A whale of a journey – Kayak San Juan Islands
Deep in the Puget Sound between Seattle and Vancouver, near Victoria, has established an archipelago known as rural San Juan Islands. Technically associated with the State Washington, in fact, these islands straddling the border of British Columbia, Washington, and includes hundreds of islands, reefs and rocks. Due to the tremendous amount of rain dumped in the area by the "rainshadow" of the Olympia Mountains, San Juan Islands enjoy one of the most interesting ecosystems on the planet. In a field where you can see a wide variety of animals, you can enjoy the plants that normally seen only in the rainforest, and plants that are native to leave the party over others.
Each summer more tourists in search of the islands, is also another visitor. From May to October, three pods of orcas, also known as killer whales roam the Haro Strait, feast on salmon migration. From shore, you can see orcas and minke whales, Dall porpoises, seals and bald eagles. It is ideal for the family fully explore and enjoy a picnic, just put a pair of binoculars! The Whale Museum in downtown Friday Harbor allows visitors to enjoy these beautiful creatures. The island was discovered by bicycle, which can be rented at several places. You do the walk, bicycle or kayak San Juan Islands are a beauty to enjoy.
