How to repair the road bike integrated brake lever, gearbox? The shifter can not pull the cord.?
My road bike 1997 Cannondale gears and Shimano shifters. The left shifter does not make the cable is good and intact. Does anyone have recommendations for repair assembly of the handle on the left to pull the cord to activate the trigger mechanism. The cable is intact and moves freely. I can activate the mechanisms of displacement, pulling the cord from the base of the cross-bar, which shows that all as the shift lever to the front derailleur is good. Is there an online repair manual Gears Shimano 1997 vintage, which would show how to repair a bike brake lever integral-Gear Shifter Assembly? Could parts are available in Shimano or Cannondale? Otherwise, it makes more sense simply to replace the shifter and brake lever assembly? Recommendations? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
My old RSX (first generation) STI levers began to do the same as you. Loosen the pivot bolt lot shifter without it falling apart, WD40 but much change Mech. I could. I wiped the handles after a few hours and threw a light lithium grease (in a spay CAN) the Mech. Then pivot bolts snugged too tight and have worked hard for. I bet it's all you have to do well.
