Breathe in Cherokee County: Woodstock Bike Park offers a new place to play
Of course, you can ride your mountain bike everywhere but there is nothing like riding miles of winding-up of hand-built single track (just enough for one) through the woods of northern Georgia. But where? Unfortunately, mountain bikes have been hunted mercilessly by public parks around South-East because of its tendency to erode the roads built for hikers and even clash with the hikers themselves. The solution? Well, if you live in Woodstock Georgia, holding its own park and construct their own path.
Southern Off-Road Bicycle Organization (SIP) system is responsible for the popular Blankets Creek Trail along the creek covers the Lake Allatoona. Other local projects include Atlanta Morningside Sorba Nature Preserve segment that connects downtown Atlanta Buckhead current 30 acres to the forest, and Big Creek Park in Roswell.
BLANKETS CREEK
Almost completely hand-built by a team of volunteers, Blankets Creek Park is the only bike park Cherokee County and is proving to be one of the best attractions in the state. Just in Woodstock, near Six Road, not far from downtown and just 25 miles outside Atlanta, the park attracts over 100,000 bicycles per year. Children, men, women, families, couples, lonely, and even experienced riders hikers converge here to see the great trails, good training and fun times.
The park has three short loops that let you choose your own adventure – from beginner trails dry farmers as the demand for expertise. The group is currently building quarter for a total of 16 miles of off-road goodness. The North Loop will be completed in the spring of 2008 and the bust of the value of all but the most experienced cyclists. With steep climbs and descents body and soul, who really know how to handle your bike if you want to do at the end of the mile track of the oven. Fortunately, there are many opportunities for training.
Apartments Mosquito Trail and a little more difficult path of mosquito bites (1.3 miles in total) easy walks are fun perfect for kids and beginners or to get your heart rate before taking over on rough roads. Intermediate riders can try the housing bond (3.5 miles) and advanced pilots can test the South Loop (4 miles) for a steady stream of zigzags, climbing, rock gardens, roots and log crossings.
Despite earlier all paths have been constructed by hand with rakes, shovels and a lot of backbreaking work, the new North Loop Trail is pulled by a mini-excavator. The main advantage is that the track will be completed in less than half the time it would take to build it by hand.

Blankets Creek is located in Woodstock, on the shores of Lake Allatoona. To get there, take I-75 North to I-575 North to Exit 11. Six time left on the road, go about 1.8 miles and turn left into parking lot of the track. The park is open daily but closed because of rain. Verification management course before you start, because it changes every day. Admission is a suggested donation of $ 1.
